This trophy was created within the framework of the workshops on design and sustainability that we carried out in collaboration with the Agència de Residus de Catalunya in which students were introduced to the concepts of design from the perspective of recycling, the meaning of ecological materials and how to design with them in an innovative and creative way.

 

This year's trophy incorporates the new logo of the Ecodisseny Awards in the shape of a star, placed on a base that results in a totem-like award. Different recycled materials have been used for each category, all from Catalonia. Recycled polyethylene from detergent containers, recycled aggregates from the demolition of buildings, recycled iron from scrap metal and cans, and finally, recycled cork from wine and cava corks. Three of the four types of award were manufactured in the OiKo Design Office studio with the help of students from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Vilanova, using different processes suitable for each material.
